With version 1.18.0, users can take advantage of several new features for Impositions, automated processing of Print Data, and Approval Projects. In addition, improvements have been made to Data Preparation, Color Management, Print Data management, and further translations.

Impose Editor: In the user interface of the Impose Editor, improvements have been implemented concerning the labeling of the individual function areas. Furthermore, the font for all affected tabs has been standardized.

Create and Manage PDF Printer: With version 1.18.0, the creation of printers in the background has been completely revised. The first changes are already available in this version when creating a PDF Printer. A PDF Printer is now created in a predefined sequence of steps and it is possible to assign all or selected Substrates to the PDF Printer and to make corresponding Color Policies available.

With version 1.17.2, users can take advantage of a number of new features in the environment of Impositions and the automated processing of print data. In addition, improvements have been made to Data Preparation, color management and print data management, as well as further translations have been carried out.

VDP Editor: SC sizes – for EAN 13, ISBN, ISSN, and UPC, the checkboxes for adjusting the SC size and height have been removed. Instead, information about the required sizes according to the ISO regulations will be added with immediate effect.

Impose Editor: Step & Repeat – Minimum Over- and Underproduction – In Step & Repeat mode, the functionality of the minimum overproduction and underproduction has been optimized. These functions were implemented in the previous version, and have been adjusted in terms of calculation in this version.

Management and Use of Automation Jobs: In version 1.17.2, in conjunction with the new Workflow user interface, beta customers can use Automation Jobs for the first time. These Jobs also make use of so-called Automators which will be described in detail below. With these functions, users can define and schedule automated production processes completely according to their requirements. In these release notes, you will find a case study that illustrates the creation and use of such a job with the help of Automators.

Convert "White" to 0/0/0/0 – Improvement: The option "Convert White to 0/0/0/0" was implemented in the General Settings in version 1.15.0. This option has been extended in this version. From now on, the activated option is only carried out when the Color Policy has been profiled with White. Previously, the function was also executed when the selected printer had a White channel, but did not necessarily use it.

Installing an update for versions higher than 1.14.0 Workflow versions 1.14.1, 1.14.2, and 1.15.0 and all future versions can only be installed if Workflow version 1.14.0 was installed before. Thus, an update from an earlier version e.g.: 1.11.x, 1.12.x as well as 1.13.x cannot be performed! The reason for this was internal improvements in the migration logic introduced in version 1.14.0. Before future updates, make sure that version 1.14.0 has already been installed. An update from the Workflow version smaller than 1.11.0 to version 1.14.0 and higher must first be updated to version 1.11.0 and only then to 1.14.0!

Approval Portal: Approval Reports could previously be generated in the Workflow and downloaded locally starting from several versions backwards. Subsequently, these had to be sent manually via e–mail to the responsible person(s). As of this version, an Approval Portal is available as a cloud service that communicates with the local Workflow. Approval Reports can be generated in the Workflow and sent directly to the Approval Portal. The contact person receives an e–mail which contains a link to the Approval Portal, where they can approve or reject the respective Approval Reports without having to register. The Approval/Rejection is automatically transferred to the Workflow including the corresponding comment. The following areas are described in more detail below.

Scaling of the Y-Axis – From this version on, the Y–axis or the view of the Y–axis can be distorted in the gamut viewer. The reason for this is that Color Logic scales the Y–axis to 200% by default. The Workflow displays the Y–axis at 100% by default. Visually comparing the gamut was therefore difficult to control.

Profiling: Starting with this release, the standard N–Channel Profile Calculation Templates: Standard (Substrates) and Sublimation (Substrates), use a new method for measurement data optimization. Both templates use the Correct Bad Measurements and Scale Lab Scope method from this release. This method corrects inaccurate measurements and modifies measurement data that have abnormal peculiarities, such as inks lighter than the white point. As of now, smoothing of measurement data is no longer performed, which makes it easier to address color locations at the edge of the gamut.

Management of Impose Templates: From this version on, the Name, the External ID and the Comment in different impose editor templates: Plate, Sheet, Print Item, Impose and Grid Templates, can be edited and saved. The internal name of each template should not be changed, because it is needed and checked by the system. When changing a template name, the internal name is not changed.

Send to Printer: If several Production Jobs are selected in the list and these are sent to the printer, a separate dialog opens with an overview of the selected Production Jobs. From this version on, this overview also shows the ID of the selected Color Policy and the selected Ink Save Profile per Production Job.
